Art
A true artist in every way, Carlos Cabrera, will not only delight you with his colorful interpretations of Nicaraguan life, he will also win your heart with his enthusiaam. Carlos, known among the Masaya vendors as the "singing artist", has a love of opera as well as painting. Carlos was blessed with a beautiful voice and will gladly "sing" you the meaning behind each of his paintings.
Born in Masaya, Nicaragua, Carlos has started a small entrepreneurial business by representing not only his work, but several other young artists from his home town. Among these artists, we were very impressed with the works of Marlon Lopez and Dennis Perez Castilla. Their simple, colorful works speak loudly of the heart of Nicaragua.
Handmade Dolls
Although there are several small enterprises manufacturing these typical style Nicaraguan dolls, we chose Annabel and Martas due to the quality and detail of their work. These two ladies and their children live in the small mountain town of Masaya, halfway between Managua and Granada,Nicaragua. Ironically both of their husbands were killed in the civil war which they fought on opposing sides. Neighbors and friends most of their lives, this tragedy has not kept them or their children apart. The women have formed a partnership and make these dolls together in Annabel's home. The sewing machines are manually operated and they work alone, therefore quantities are limited.

Luis, one of our fine artisans, has been creating tapices for over 40 years. He has been commissioned by many Hollywood and European stars as well as politicians throughout the world. Luis will be happy to custom design a tapice for you at your request.
